Power and the Immune System
Hi everyone. This is the last post on my series covering the five pillars of our immune system: Power, Blood, Command & Control, Hunters and Cell Walls. I never thought about what happens when we get an infection or wound. In the other posts I spoke about how we release white blood cells into the bloodstream. These hunters may spike to be up to 30% of blood biomass. All those cells have to be replaced so lots of cell division and it takes power to split cells. Have a fever? During an infection the core body temperature rises. More power required. In this case, your muscles are...

White Blood Cells- Our Immune System's Hunters
Each week I am learning about and explaining how our immune system works. I broke this down into the Five Pillars that form our immune system: Power, Blood, Command & Control, Cell Walls & Hunters. T-Cells are our snipers, trained to identify and take out a target. For this article I an using the COVID19 Virus as our enemy. T-cells are a type of white blood cell and together with B-Cells and Natural Killer (NK) cells are members of one of six different classes of white blood cells. There is lots going on but these 3 are all involved with COVID19. How does a sniper figure out if what...

Cell Walls- Our Immune System's Defensive Line
I have been learning about the Five Pillars that form our immune system: Power, Blood, Command & Control, Cell Walls & Hunters. We are in Vol Country and big fans. Cell walls are our immune system's defensive line and if weak then a losing season likely follows. This article covers how viruses like COVID19 gets through our cell walls and what to do to help prevent that from happening. Viruses are not living organisms and can't reproduce on their own. To propagate, they need to get inside our cells and hijack the mitochondria power plant, nutrients and protein manufacturing capacity found inside the cells and use these tools...

The Command & Control Network of our Immune System - Eicosanoids
Hi everyone. I am blogging about the five pillars of our immune system: Power, Blood, Command & Control, Hunters and Cell Walls. This blog covers the command and control system and what micronutrients are needed for cells to be able to ask for help and then tell everyone to stand down, help is no longer needed. The command and control network is called the Eicosanoid system. Our immune system uses two types of signals. The signals that call for help are pro-inflammatory, telling the body to increase blood flow (hence why an ankle sprain swells up) and release the hunters (various classes of white blood cells)....
